I’m always looking for an excuse to convince my hubby Marv to go on a fun Florida getaway. Why? A fun getaway means fun clothes from Anthony’s. (Isn’t every event in life a chance to shop?)
A Fashionable Trip to Florida
This month, we have a new reason to go to Orlando: It’s the opening of the tallest observation wheel on America’s East Coast, the 400-foot-high Orlando Eye.
This wheel – the high-tech version of a Ferris wheel – will take visitors up so high, they will be able to see all the attractions of Central Florida. Visitors get inside a capsule, and each capsule contains Apple iPad Air tablets that pinpoint landmarks below, as far as the eye can see — Disney, Universal and Sea World theme parks, downtown Orlando and beautiful Central Florida lakes. Riders will be able to see all the way to Cape Canaveral.
The Eye is part of an entertainment complex at I-Drive 360, the heart of Orlando’s International Drive, that also includes the new Madame Tussauds, the world’s most famous wax museum, and SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium, an “underwater experience.”
Sounds fun, right? So…what should I wear? This calls for a trip to Anthony’s, Florida’s leader in women’s fashions for 125 years. If I’m going to dangle myself high above Central Florida in a tiny capsule, I want to look fabulous.

Here’s my look-at-me outfit for the sky-high Orlando Eye: My J. Valdi dress with a fabulous, crazy, wheel print. It makes me look as festive and fun as a human kaleidoscope. Usually, I wear this minidress as a cover-up over my bathing suit, but for my trip to the Orlando Eye, I’ll slip some white “stretch side zip” capri pants by Coconut Row under the dress. These capris are cool – they have a side panel that makes your thighs look skinny. I’ll add a turquoise necklace for sparkle, and I’ll be almost as bright as the Orlando Eye.
